French manicures have been selling out of a set of black-and-white nail art creations that looks like it was made for a Halloween party.
The nail art, which features a clown wearing a clown mask, was sold out on eBay by the day it was due to be on sale, and a representative for the designer who created the set told Recode that the manicures were the work of one man.
“This is not an art piece,” the representative said.
“It’s the work … of a single person.”
The man behind the set, who goes by the Twitter handle @luckytiger, has been retweeting photos of the items since they were first posted.
The items, which feature the head of a clown, a clown-themed head, and an animal mask, have sold out since they went on sale last week, according to eBay’s seller, Lucky Tiger.
The products are also available for $1,000 and up.
Lucky Tiger told Recoding that he created the clown mask and animal mask as an homage to his love of clowns, which he said was inspired by a clown costume he used to decorate his home.
He said that he first created the masks for Halloween, and had planned to make them for years before realizing the idea was a little bit crazy.
“I wanted to make a little Halloween costume, but the concept was really crazy, and I’m so proud of it,” he said.
A spokesperson for the company that created the items did not respond to Recode’s request for comment.
This is the second time that Lucky Tiger has sold out of nail polishes.
In October, he sold out his entire line of black polish at $1.99.
