In this video, a young girl is learning to apply shellac French nail polish with the help of her grandmother and mother-in-law.
In a country where the term “shellac” means something more than a synthetic coating, the French word for shellac is the French pronunciation of “début”.
“The French word is début and it means the same thing as ‘shellac’ but with a different sound,” said Dr. Anjali Mishra, a dermatologist at the Delhi Cosmetic Institute.
“Shellac is a natural substance, so there’s no need to use chemical or physical protection,” Mishra said.
“It is a non-chemical substance that has an extremely strong chemical barrier and has no harmful properties.”
In this video from the University of Delhi, Dr.
Anjali Moshra explains how to apply French shellac nail polish.
Mishra said that shellac uses the chemical compounds to break down the pigments in the nails.
She explained that shellacs are also used for the repair of burns, to treat scabbing, and as an eye cream.
Dr. Anju Mishra says the French shellacs that are used in Indian cosmetics are not harmful.
When she applied French shellace on a burn victim, the shellac made its way into her bloodstream.
“The shellac in the product contains hydroquinone which is an active ingredient in tanning lotions, so it helps the skin absorb the product,” she said.
This video shows how shellac works.
She said that the skin is the most vulnerable part of the body.
As the skin grows and becomes red, it is the only area where the chemicals in the shellacs interact with the skin.
“So we have to have a very strong barrier between the skin and the products,” Mishras said.
The skin is a very fragile organ and needs to be protected from chemicals, she said, explaining that shellaclays have to be applied with a soft brush.
In order to apply the shellacet to the skin, the patient must first apply the product directly to the burn area.
In the video, the young girl’s grandmother explains how the shellaclay is applied.
The grandmother, who is also an orthodontist, said the skin can also be treated with a topical cream called Molli Pazhna.
“It has anti-inflammatory properties and works on the inflammatory cells that can cause the inflammation,” Misharsaid.
Dr. Shanti Gupta, a specialist in dermatology and dermatology at the University Health Network Delhi, said that although there is a possibility that shellace may help heal the wound, it’s not recommended.
“Shellacs are not recommended for healing burns,” Gupta said.
